13. Ali Baalbaki asked, "Who cares?" Good question. Should we care about the young U.S. republic? Due Weds Feb. 12th
Are events from the early 19th century relevant to our lives today? In other words, will studying 1810 prepare us for facing 2010? Using your notes from our Philadelphia Street-Fair, information from the textbook and building on the rough draft you completed in class, answer the question by making specific connections to the topics we've studied to prove or disprove your point.

Events from 1810 are relevant to our lives to because you need a past to have a future. By that I simple mean without the things, events and inventions from 1810 how would we have our inventions today? Exactly we would not. An example of something we not have now without an invention made in the 1800’ is steam power. Without steam power we would not have the modern day steam boat. What the people did then is helpful to us now because without the Haitian Delegation the people of Haiti would not have most of the rights they have now. They may even have had dictators. Without the Lewis and Clark expedition we would have no clue of what to do when traveling and trading on boats.hence, clearly the people and events that occurred in my life.
Studying 1810 can help us with 2010because what we do now is an upgraded, more techy version of what they did then. Studying 1810 can help us understand more about certain things that exists. Also if you know about what was done in the past you will do better in the future. Over all I believe 1810 is a rough draft of the up coming 2010.
Events from the early 19th century affect us now because of many reasons. These reasons will be explained in the best way I can. The first reason is it sparks some of the many political firestorms. James Madison’s people would go to street fairs and speak on his behalf. All this to try and get people to vote for James Madison, thanks to this we now have to see and hear all the reasons we should vote someone for office. Another reason this affect us now is the Erie Canal. This is because the Erie Canal is a excellent source of transportating goods from point A to point B. This is an inexpensive way to go in these bad times; it’s still being used today to take people and goods from A to B.
These events from the early 19 century affect us today a lot from the positive or blackballing posters of a political gain. The inexpensive way of travel on the Erie Canal the 19th century affected a lot.
Events from the early 19th century are relevant to our lives today because of all the accomplishments that were made.
Back then Hasia became the first country ruled by African descent which is important because if Hasia wasn't ruled by African Americans, Barak Obama might not be our president today.
In addition, Lewis and Clark paid $24,006.00 to go on their legendary expedition and become friends with the Swanee Nation which helped us to maintain peace with this Native American tribe.
Also, Benjamin Banneker cleaned the streets of America to cure yellow fever forever. Steam power created by oil introduced us to gasoline, and Slater, Lowell, and Witney, built the first factory. They are now known as the founding fathers of factories.
After that lake Eerie was used to transport goods and that section of lake Eerie is now called the Eerie canal. This concludes my report on how events from the early 19th century are relevant to our lives today.
The events from the early 19th century are relevant to our ;ifes today. One way it is relevant is people made inventions that help us in our everyday lives from things that the people in the 19th century discovered. For example, without steampower, we wouldn't have steamboats, or almamacs.
Another way the 19th century can relevant to our lives today is some people and/or things helped people fight for their rights. Especially, african americans. They are stepping up and fighting for their rights, all thanks to the Free African Society and The Hatian Delegation. This relates to 2009 because we now have our first black president, Barack Obama.
One last way people of the 19th century are relevant to our lives today is each president is following each others example and growing more and more on it, such as courage and bravery. From George Washington, James Madison, and now Barack Obama will keep going and fighting for our rights to a safer, more fair society. This is how the early 19th century is relevant to our lifes today and how it can help us today.

Question-How are events from early nineteenth century relevant to our lives today?
How can studying 1810 help us with 2010?
Today in our days there are more then millions which don’t know there history. The history of the world the history of the places they may have traveled. Don’t know the past of there ancestors and least but not least the history of were they were born. Why don’t they know? This what everyone says: the grown-ups are to busy at work, the kids are too small to understand it. The teenagers like Ali Baalbaki asked "Who cares?" It not there problem, whatever, they will not needed the future there are more important things then that. But this is my answer: they are too lazy and they rather find an excuse. Only 25% of the people around the world who know history and that because of there jobs. Historians, scientist, and some other jobs. Only three percent are interested in history who does not learn it because of there job.
The 21st century is filled with many significant things. There are clothes, computers, medicine, ships, cars vaccinations, and other great inventions we nearly take advantages of everyday. We now in our day can’t imagine life without simple things like a cell phone if lose a cell phone we need to get a new one right away. We have dish washer or washer machine we can’t live without them why? In 1810 people communicated more by talking to each other everyday without cell phones but by listening to each other. Citizens in 1810 washed clothes and dishes by hands and they lived perfectly (almostly). Why can they live without things which we have? 1810s, many people died of sicknesses. They did not know how to cure to their sickness. Back then many people were victims to sicknesses’’Yellow Fever’’ but eventually we found a way to heal it and now it is considered a one of rarest happened or heard disease because no one has it. The relavents to us are we are still tiring to find cure for many disease which we now have. This is one of the things which we done which is knowledgeable. There were also 2 groups of people called the Doves and War Hawks. The Doves didn’t want people going to war and now the Doves help us create peace with other nations and had cooperation. The War Hawks on the other hand wanted land and war and were selfish. When the British were occupying land we the War Hawks fought back we expected that. Now we have more land than we were supposed to have in a way anger got us something in return but war losing life’s is horrible and now I don’t want war which is happening now IT IS A WRONG WAY TO BE. And peace created friendship with other countries.
In the federalist era, I would say it was the time the people were hungry for inventions. They invented steam engines, the cotton gin, boats, and wrote the constitution. We use a lot of the inventions the people in the 1810s invented and now we are improving them and it takes us a long time why? Because we don’t look at the past to see it them to figure it out. It’s like jumping in to the boat and not looking if it has a hole and finding it out when you are sinking in the middle of no were. The inventions which were created in 1810 got our country filled with factories, clean cotton, and many great improvements, inventions, and discoveries. The United States was just improving these inventions. For example, the steam engine & power was the beginning of the industrial revolution. Without steam power we would not have the modern day our first steam boats and trains were then was created by this encouraged idea. Now we still use trains and developed subways to transport people and goods. Now that we have the engine power, we can now transport goods, and enjoy cruises, and on vacations to travel places. There was also the Erie Canal which was also made to transport to transport goods to different places it cost only $10
When it cost a lot more in other places. There were also a group of people called the Shakers. They created furniture which we now still use the shakers built many great inventions, such as the clothespin also furbished beautiful chairs, perfect tables, and many other beautiful pieces of furniture. James Madison, was our fourth president and the one who wrote more than a half of the of Constitution. The White house, which is in Washington D.C, housed many presidents. There was Barrack Obama, John Adams and many others. But who built the white house? The white houses’ building has been a past of theft. Someone made the plans for the white house but they always fell. From the events from the 19th century are relevant to ours today is also why I think this is because most of the events in the 19th century are significant and wonderful to the 25% which I talked about before. Other examples are there were 2 explorers there names were Lewis and Clark. They went on an expedition in the 19th century to look and find more land. And so they found the There were also 2 patriotic men named James Madison and George Washington. James Madison was the main author of the constitution and now the constitution protects the United States of America. George Washington created the 3 branches of the government. Now still continue to use this so that all lawmakers have equal rights. 3 inventors called Slater, Lowell, and Whitney created a cotton machine that cleaned cotton 10 times faster than men. It also changed how cotton factories grew and how products are currently made. Now we have better factories and machineries. This is how events from the 19th century are relevant now. Studying 1810 will help us with 2010. I would say make better decisions for 2010 and to our economy which is hanging on the end on string. In 1810 Alexander Hamilton made an economy plan. He made the economy better by making the South and North and making the capital and independent city so neither side had a greater deal of power. This action created peace in the States. The Doves also wanted peace. The Doves didn’t want war and also crated peace. Because of war our economy is ruined because a lot of the countries are paying money for the Iraq war. In this war we aren’t really getting anywhere that’s why we need peace. Were just losing lives of our citizens. We need peace not war. This is how studying 1810 helps us in 2010.
Events from the 1809 are important today. This is because it helps us grow up. For instance, when Hamilton became the first secatary of state the country had a big economic problem. He thought "The bank could expand the size of the nation's money supply and thus enhance economic activityt." Obama's stimulas plan is like Hamilton's plan. Insteads of putting money back into the bank, Obama will use the bank to put money into the nations economy by lending money to buisnesses. This will help create jobs.
Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisianna Purchase from France after he had tried to buy New Orleans. He wanted to buy, the American economy would have suffered because we wouldn't be able to ship our goods. Lewis and Clark explored the Louisianna Purchase abd they also explored the western section of the country. With this knowledge, Americans would be able to settle in new places. This would helpt the country grow.
After Americans settled in the new lands, they found out they needed more transportation to ship there goods back to New York. The Erie Canal was built to bring goods back and forth from New York City to areas around the Great Lakes. Before the Erie Canal, the goods would go up the Hudson River to Albany. Then it would be a problem to ship it to Bufflo. Bufflo was on lake Erie. The Erie canal helped solved this problem. From Bufflo, goods and supplies could be shipped to settlers in the Louisianna Purchase. We still us it today.
We have rough times in the economic system. Mr. Obama's stimulus plan is to build more infrastructure. We need more roads, bridges, airports, ports to move goods that will be more cheaply. We need new ways of transporting powert to people and new gasoline. We look back at the past to build more invetions and solve problems.
I know that history repeats so we need to study the past and if something happens we will know the answer to it.For example Yellow Fewer. It happened in the 19th century, monkeys had a deadly deseas2.Mosquito's were drinking their blood-deseas2 and cary it to us.People almost couldn't survive. But now we improved our medication so good that almost everything could be cured. George Washington was the first president because he was a general. He took care of the U.S. and improved it.
And now we still have presidents who take care of U.S. who improve it.Erie Canal: it was hard to move stuff to other places because there was no transportation. But after they build Erie Canal people saved lots of money. It costed 10$ to transfer 1 ton of grain to another place by Erie Canal but by car it was 100 $. Today we still use Erie Canal for transportation. It saves us money and time.7 million $ was worth to build Erie Canal.
The events in the early 19 century are relevent to our lives today, because if there was no cure for Yellow Fever most people would die and would be sick right now. Also because if Goerge Washington didn't win the war between Great Britian, we would not have America. Lewis and Clarke made peace with the Indians. The Erie canal helped transport goods. Now the Erie canal has improved. Also because of Slater and Lowell, factories are improved and there are no more slaves. This is how events from the early 19 century are relevent to our lives today.
Studying 1810 could help us with2010 by, if Yellow Fever comes back we have a cure for it now. We get vaccinated so we don't get Yellow Fever. It also helps us by that we know that congress could improve wars. This is because of James Madison. This is why we know we have factories, because of Slater and Lowell. They were the factories Fathers of America. This is how studying 1810 could help us with 2010.
These events creates a huge history when days goes by one by one. The days in 1810 to 2009 makes a huge difference. In the 1810, there aren't much electric and there were many hardships. Today, these events are relevant to our live today because it makes us have huge differences. Which we can compare the hardships these people has been though. It creates a history for the U.S. The bad and the good things about it.
We believed that in the 1810 there weren't much freedom we have now. The economy changed a lot from 1810 to 2009. We use electricity more today than using stream power or other equip that makes our life easier. but some of the events from 1810, we still use it in 2009. We use Hamilton's Economic Plan and the Erie Canal. Today, if we don't use those things many difficulty will be here today. Also, if African Slaves haven't ended it will give the Africans no freedom.
I believe in 1820 to 2009 there were many changes, but it helps us after all. Studying these events can help us think that those people in the 1810 must have a harder life than now. It makes me wonder, "Why is the life today easier then the 1810?" Maybe if we study more about the events it gives clue, proves, people, and history about 1810. In U.S each history is very important and special. I studied about "Free African Society" and I learned how it began and how it ended. Also, I learned Richard Allen and others who helped end slavery. There were a lot of information about African Slaves that i learned. These studies helped our class and me about today and the 1810 differences.
The events that have occured in 1810 were important today. For example, the yellow fever carried from mosquitoes and then carried to people. Now we have vaccinations to help cure the issue. Now the only way to treat this issue back then would be to bleed the sickness out of you. Many people would have died if there wasnt a vaccination and we would have had this sickness sooner or later. There would be no world if there was no history. Another example would be the erie canal. The erie canal is for imports and exports. This way to import and export is a cheap way for the economy in its roughest times. It saves much more money than using a plane to import and export. So yes we all should care about the federalist era.
My Essay
Q: How will studying 1810 prepare us for facing 2010? Are events from the early 19th century relevant to our lives today?
Events form the 19th century are really relevant to us today. In fact we wouldn’t have something or know some stuff if that century were missing. For example, steam power was invented in the 19th century and helped make a replacement for electricity, which they didn’t have before. This helped the people of the 19th in factories and got done easier. This is relevant to us today because, this caused the idea of making energy to get work done (electricity). This is still used in farms and other places around the world. And because, of steam power it gave us the idea of “steam boats” for today.
Also, the 19th is relevant to us today because, the first president of United States “George Washington” helped us start the economy. Because of him we have presidents today that follow what he had done. For example, his 4-year presidency that was followed on. From then presidents have stayed 4 years and left the office. Also, the 19th century is important because, before when the eerie canal had just been invented it was used for shipping imports and exports across America. Now lake eerie is used transportation and goods being shipped around.
Another reason is the Free African Society and The Haitian Delegation. African Americans took a chance and stood for their freedom. Because of this, this is relevant to us because, today we have Africa Americans in our society and a black president, Barack Obama. This is all because of the Free African Society and The Haitian Delegation and if again, this was a very important year/century for us or else this advantage would not have taken place.
Our 19th century was filled with relevance, which is important to us today. The list keeps going on... “Hamilton’s Economic Plan”. Our economy was going down. But Hamilton saved this from going in to the trash to bringing it to the top. He did this by making an economic plan. You might be wondering… “If this happened before how is it relevant to us today?”
Well, presidents use Hamilton’s plan today and our economy is still using it to avoid tripping. His plan helps our economy stay on the top.
As many inventions were invented … wars were too. Back then there were two groups the United States divided into because, of their disagreements... The Doves, and The Hawks. The doves wanted peace and the war hawks wanted a war Britain because; they wanted to fight for land. Even though our army wasn’t strong enough. The smartness of the Doves lead to a very significant and relevant fact for us today. That is, that now we have better allies with Britain, for keeping peace between the two countries.
Back to more inventions! Some inventors called Slater, Lowell, and Whitney created a cotton machine that cleaned cotton 10 times faster than normal human speed. This helped us in our economy by a lot. This is because, the factories started to make more money off inventing these because work got done faster. And also they made even more money selling their inventions! For today, this led to even better machinery that is used today in our factories.
Back then much land was discovered. Meet our famous discoverers, Lewis and Clark. In May 1804, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark set out on an amazing expedition across the Louisiana Territory. It has been nearly 200 years since then, and the bicentennial of their historic journey is rapidly approaching. These true American heroes faced unknown people, harsh conditions and unexplored lands to secure a place in history as two of the world's greatest explorers. These discoveries are relevant to us now because, now we have more land than before.
These are the many reasons why we have things that were not ought to have but we do because of the 19th century. This why events from the early 19th century relevant to our lives today.
-Ramsha Rana
Events from the early 19th century are relevent to our lives in many ways. I will start with the topic George Washington. He was the first president of the United States, he was the first person to ever take good care of the United States. This is relevant to our lives today because if he never became president, who knows where we would be now. But, people keep taking after his lead and we still have a different president every four or eight years.
There are many more topics that I could write about. Next, I will explain the topic to free the African Society. In the 19th century, every single African American was a slave. They really did not want to be slaves, but they had no choice. If they even spoke of being free, they would be killed. At one point, all of them got really tired of being slaves and worked together to free themselves. Today, all of the African Americans are free, and we now have an African American president.
I could write about many more if I had the time, but I don't. As you can see, there are many topics to write about, and I just wrote about two of them. I have explained how they are relevant to our lives today. I explained how George Washington has a very important role in our lives. I also explained how the African Society set themselves free.
Events from the 1800's are relevant to our lives now because what you do in the past can predict your future. For example Benjamin Baker stoped yellow fever for good.So if he didn't care we would still be dying from this horrible disease, today. In addition the War Hawks.Without them we would not have our freedom, or the courage to continue to fight wars.Back the we fought for freedom, goods, money, and power.Even today we are still fighting.
Essay
Q: How are events from early Nineteenth century relevant to our lives today?
Q: How can studying 1810 help us with 2010?
Yes, we should care for the Federalist Era. There are events from the Nineteenth century that are relevant to our lives in so many ways. Also studying 1810 will give us knowledge from that time to help us 2010. We can avoid future crisis with this knowledge. If you look know you wont even care about this stuff but if you look closely we wouldn’t even have the technology, there wouldn’t have been presidents to run this country, or plans to help you in the time you need most.
One event that is relevant to us from the Nineteenth century is Hamilton’s economical plan to recoup{ fix} the economy. Today people are in a big economical crisis and still use this plan. Another event is Yellow fever a dangerous disease and Benjamin Banaker. Benjamin cleared the streets of yellow fever. Today we have antidotes and vaccines for diseases. In 1810 there were a lot of inventions. Such as the cotton gin, steam power and weaving factories. These inventions can be improved in 2010. Also in 1810 there were war hawks and the doves. The doves protested against wars. In 2010 we can protest against wars.
My last event is George Washington and James Madison’s presidential ways. Today President Obama can use their ways currently and in the future. In conclusion these are ways that the Nineteenth century is relevant to us today. Also these are reasons studying 1810 can help us in 2010. There this ends my Essay for how Events in the Nineteenth century are relevant today and how studying 1810 can help us 2010.
Events from 1810 are relevant to our lives to because you need a past to have a future.also the past helps us make a new future .without all the invention we had in the 1810 how would we be able to create invention now. What the people did then is helpful to us now because without the Haitian Delegation the people of Haiti would not have most of the rights they have now. They may even have had dictators. Without the Lewis and Clark expedition we would have no clue of what to do when traveling and trading on boats.
Events from the Nineteenth century are relevant to our lives today because most of them make up what today is all about. The events and actions that took place back then have lead to a whole new level or stage, which is 2009.Think about it, if certain things did not take place how and when it did then it would not have had the effect it has on us now.
For example,it is told that Toussaint Lovuture was the first African American war troop leader, he was the leader of the Haitian Revolution and if he had not began or started this then today would be different. For instance, today Barack Obama is making changes, he is our first African American president and i think it was people like Toussaint Lovoture who started the inspiration of African Americans making changes.
Lastly, another event that also lead to today is steam power. Steam power back then was used to power steam boats, it makes a difference today because just the thought of that has made today even better. We no longer use steam alot, but if it was not for the thought then today wouldn't be as it is. In conclusion, if we study 1810, it can help us with 2010 because it might lead to something the same way 1809 lead us to now...2009.
Many things in the early 19th century got U.S. to where we are today. For example yellow fever. Many people had gotten it. We would have had it today if it wasn’t for Benjamin baneker. He cured our streets from yellow fever.
Steam power made many things work. Things such as boats and other forms of transportation. The Erie Canal transported many things. One of those many things was goods. It does the same today. Except for the fact that today it is more improved.
The doves and warhawks fought in the war of 1812. They wanted freedom. James Madison helped the warhawks. Not only that but he also helped congress. Many people follow James Madison’s example as president.
The free African society also wanted freedom. Richard callen tried to end slavery. In 1793 the national government ended slavery. The Hation delegation helped. This because Hati set an example because it was a independent country. Washington also helped with this not only was he first president, but he also brought us to freedom
If you think about it, the fedaralist era is not much different than the U.S today. The conflicts that we had back then we still have today. War, poverty, and disease still exist today. The research that our class contributed in also show that the accomplishments we did back then have enhanced our lives. Steamboats later evolved into modern ships. Benjamin Banneker helped make our nations capital, Washington D.C. The country that we live in today did not just pop up overnight. It has gone through quite an evolution. So yes, it is very important to know about the fedaralist era, because it's history of the country we live in today, the United States of America.

Happenings in the 19th century are imporant. Some of them have helped alot in the present. For example the cotton gin was created by Eli Whitney. The cotton gin sperated the fibers from the seeds which made is actually alot of work. The cotton gin made cotton prices fall, and stock rise. This made the cost of clothes much lower. Many more people could afford it.
There are many more things that I can wright about but I won`t. I got to go to my uncles house.
Events from the early 19th century is relavent to our life today in many ways. One way is the Erie Canal and steampower. The erie canal was used to transfer goods to other countries. Steampower caused boats to move. This is relavilant to our lives today even though we have roads to walk on because back then there were no roads for people to walk on. The yellow fever in the early 19th century killed alot of people in Philadephia. The yellow fever came from mosquitoes. Preventing the yellow fever today there is a vaccine to prevent it. This is revalant to our life because without the vaccine yellow fever would spread and kill many people in the United States.
Studying 1810 will help us with 2010 because we would be prepared for all these stuff. The yellow fever will not kill anymore people when there is vaccine. More roads were built to stop using alot of steampower that caused pollution.
The Erie Canal is used for transporting goods so we dont have to prepare for this event. I think that we are prepared for all these events that occured back in the 19th century.
The events from 1810 help prepare us for today by making us learn how things can go wrong and how to solve a problem soon to come in over the years. For instance the Lewis&Clark expedition they had to pay 25,000 to just travel but that is what th Era is the question who cares is more like saying what was the point why did you keep going WHY BACK DOWN!.IF THE PEOPLE OF OUR NATION IN 1810 BACKED DOWN THERE WOULD BE NO WORLD AS WE KNOW TODAY!.
Ali Baalbaki asked who cares. Well the answer is that we care. Yes we do because we cared enough to study our history and look for answers that we might need today, or tomorrow. Inventions or achievements still effect our lives today.
In the 1800's, steam power was created. We use this steam power today to power boats and other modes of transportation. Slater, Lowell and Whitney created the first factory in america. Today they are called the founding fathers of factories. This effects us today because we have factories all over america now that are used to help with our needs.
My opinion is that Benjamin Benneker is the one that sticks out. He cleaned the streets of Philadelphia from yellow fever. This was a big token to our advantage because we don't have yellow fever and this is why I consider Benjamin Benneker to be a real hero.
As we all know, history repeats itself. This as we know isn't a joke as it has happened before. The first place to look for answer if this happens again is history itself. Because if we know how it happened in the past, we will know how to stop it in the future.

The Luis and Clark Expedition
How are events from the 19th century ireilivant to our lives today? When Thomas Jefferson was still president of the United States of America he ordered the explorers name d Luis and Clark to go to a journey North t osee what the land there was like. If it wasnt for Luis and Clark taking the dangerous risk of exploring West the United States wouldnt be as large as it is today. There discovery may help us in the future to explor more land and other palces around the world. Luis and Clark traded wit hthe Shoshone people for horses. thanks to them we have alot more horses in the US.
Studying the 19th century today helps us learn about all the histroy thats happened in the world. In 2010 people will still remember the two very brave men that risked there lives for our country. Like in the 18t hcentury a interpreter from the shoshone nation helped Luis and clark understand what non americans were saying. She died of an unown ilness which today is called small pox. without a past we have no future.
My question is for Mikhail
You said Ali Baalkaki's statement who cared is answered by we care is their any evidence. Is there any thing from the past 1800's that use can use to back this up.The topic I researched on was steam power. So I think I have a good understanding that steam power was used for more than transportation it was also used to make money.
Import and export goods. That was people were able to make money. Over all you have proved your point to some extent. Good Job.
